Jacosa Ainu’u, a graduate of Berklee College of Music with a Master of Music Education from Boston University, has been teaching Voice and Piano for over 10 years in California and Hawaii. Several of her students have gone on to perform on Broadway, received scholarships to top colleges, and are successfully pursuing careers as recording and performing artJists. Her work as a director has been acknowledged with 1st place awards at the Anaheim Music Festival, the Reno Jazz Festival, and The San Jose Jazz Festival. As a soloist, she was a Quarter-Finalist in the American Traditions Competition, received 6 Downbeat Magazine Awards for Vocals, and has performed at the CMEA and IAJE conventions, as well as the House of Blues in Hollywood. She was a featured soloist in a large production and cd recording of Duke Ellington’s “Come Sunday” with the Sacramento Master Singers, as well as in the Ron Davis Big Band. She sang background for solo artists Shawn Sanford and Angelline, and has produced and recorded two of her own cds, “There I Go” and “Catch Me If You Can”.
